2nd Alarm Mercantile Fire "Duron Paints"

Crews from the first battalion battled this rapidly spreading fire in a paint store. Heavy winds created a visibility problem for exterior crews.

During this fire, crews from the first battalion were faced with an excessive amount of baled cotton on fire which required firefighters to relocate the burning material outside where it could be extracted and wet down.

"2 Banger" Residential Mansion Fire  

While arriving at this incident, crews went to work on a large mansion that had a rapidly spreading fire in the attic. While making the roof, a member found himself cut off from his egress and found himself clinging to the chimney while a second ground ladder was placed into service.

This was the second of two fires at this mansion, in which, the "Myers Park Arsonist" had struck. Crews from station 2, 6,& 1 had heavy fire on arrival.
